Day Two, so far.
NaNoWriMo Progress
Chugging away at this whole writing thing for another evening. It's turning out ok, so far. It's no Kerowack, say, but it has a sort of rhythm of its own, and I'm still amused by how much the story tells itself. Maybe that's an indication I'm a terrible author, but who knows?
So far, there's been a long flashback, which serves to basically illuminate the main character and his best friend, and set up the events that trigger the beginning of the larger story arc. I got to the point where the next scene is that beginning, and decided to wait until tomorrow to see what happens with that. My goal tomorrow's to hit 10K, which, I suppose, earns me my NaNoWriMo shirt. Yay-ha!

It was really, really, really rough today, but I slogged through for 2 and a half hours, with a small break in between and got 5,607 words total.
This passes all my goals for today: to pass the 5,000 mark, to do better than myself at the same time last year (5,190), and to beat my daily total (1,700) by more than a thousand so I can win another episode of DH. So that's two episodes already. The other thing, which I would have made a goal had I thought I would hit it, was beating my daily count from yesterday.
Yay!
The story? Uh... I'll get back to you on that one. But I think I'm starting to find the hook of the story now. I fumbled about with all sorts of random scenarios and characters, trying to make something work, and largely, it was not happening. But in the last 45 minuts of the 2.5 hour effort, I hit upon something that I think will be good. I hope.
You guys are machines. Holy.
I had what was easily my worst day yesterday and today I think I'm just going to wrap up a scene and go on to the next. I've got the next scene written in my head, but this past one isn't dead yet.
You want to hit 10,000 by tomorrow? That's insane. I'm going to have to rely heavily on weekends to get this done and even with a two/three week head start, you two are gonna fly by me.
Oh, and thanks for the mention...
>:(
2 things:
* You two might be DONE by the time I move to SF. That's crazy, but will make for a tastier Thanksgiving. :) (I'm, um... I'm invited to Thanksgiving, right? :)
* Yes they are, Kero. Yes they are.
You'll join me in horror to learn that Seppo actually hit 9076 last night before going to sleep.
HORROR.
I was hoping to hold my lead into the weekend, but I'm kissing it goodbye.
*makes out with lead*
I won't be able to keep this pace up for long. I'm front-loading heavily because I know from experience and other people's stories that week two can be one of the worst weeks. This will also allow me to slack a bit near the end as I get fatigued and am no longer on the high of starting the project.
I predict I will cross the finish line quite close to the 30th, if not on the 30th itself.
HA!
I'm in the middle of typing about ten or so notebook pages and my wordcount (with pages still to come) is a bit over 17,500.
EAT DUST, word bags!
