Day Three
NaNoWriMo Progress I didn't hit 12K, but I also did better than I thought, and stayed ahead of the curve. I think I've hit my first sort of break in momentum, in that for at least one scene, I felt like it dragged. Now, I'm sure all my scenes drag, but this one, *I* felt like I was wading through mud. Tomorrow, he goes fishing, learns some information, and begins a trek with a caravan to a market at a nearby village, so it should at least provide some interesting material. So... yeah. 11,447. I'm on to you, Kerowack. I should be past you in less than a week! Fear me!!!

I think it should now be a requirement to gratuitously namedrop kerowack in every blog entry.
What's that? It already was?
Ok, I just hit 8,321.
The story is not making any progress. But I arbitrarily introduced three more characters and wrote some more random scenes. Seems like I'm still fumbling around to "find" the characters and their inner motivations.
I spent a part of tonight writing about labor and childbirth. It's not done yet, but it'll be pretty much what happened with my mom when she gave birth to my little brother.
I also used a joke from Overhead in New York in a ball scene. Heh.
I don't think I could have done this thing "by the book"...heh.
The 15k head start was the kick in the pants I needed. I've got around 20k (if you count what I haven't typed yet, but have written) and if I were at say, 4k right now, I'd rush garbage to the page.
I'm pretty proud of the way I managed to push past a section that will definitely need a couple of rewrites, because in the past, I'd have been dead in the water and have given up.
Gratuituous mentions only make me stronger...Ha!
Well, when you put it like that ... I'm doing quite poorly for myself. Must. Write. More.
